Confirming File Ownership

TradeLog data files are linked to the email address used when the file was created.

To view/confirm the file ownership:

1. Open the TradeLog data file
   
   
2. From the File menu, click Edit File
   
   
3. Confirm the details:
   
   
   • User Email lists the client's email address
     The status of the Registration is displayed in red, (ACTIVE, EXPIRED, or UNREGISTERED)
     
     
   • File Registered to: lists the name associated with the email address

Files created by TradeLog PRO users using their PRO email address will change the registration to the TradeLog PRO user, and when End Tax Year is run this will use a PRO File Key.

If the file's ownership needs to be changed, Go to File>Edit File, and under registration details, click on Update Email to enter the client's email address associated with their TradeLog subscription. Now, when you run End Tax Year with TradeLog PRO, it will first check for an available File Key for the User Email. If none are available, it will prompt you before proceeding with your PRO user File Key.
