Do you trade options?
Vanguard has recently changed their CSV file format, and they are no longer providing the ticker symbols for option trades. If your trade history contains options, then there will be manual editing required after import. Since Vanguard isn't providing ticker symbols, we have to use the ticker description instead. All of the options will have the correct expiration date, strike price, and call/put, but the ticker descriptions on all options will need to be changed to the actual ticker symbol.
Please reach out to Vanguard's reporting department to inform them that their reporting is not meeting industry standard and have them fix it.
Note: Vanguard limits trade history downloads to past 18 months.
General Procedure:

Go to the Vanguard web site and log in to your account.

Click on My Accounts & Transaction History.
- Click on Download Center.
- Under Step 1, choose A spreadsheet-compatible CSV file.
- Select a date range for your report such as 1 month or 1 year.

Select the account you wish to download from (DO NOT select more than one account) and click the Download button.

Save the CSV file to your "documents\tradelog\import" directory.
Please do NOT open the csv file with Excel. Opening the csv file and then saving it will change the original formatting and render in unreadable by our TradeLog Vanguard import filter. - Run TradeLog
- Go to the Account tab at the top and click the from File button.

Select the appropriate CSV file and click on the Open button.

Your trades will be imported and automatically matched.
