Please Note:

Assignment trades that result from exercised options typically are not booked (or reported) on TradeStation's trade activity until one or two days after the respective transaction date. As a result, users who are importing up to a date within the last three business days may be missing assigned stock trades, if any assignments occurred in the past three business days.

We recommend that traders who have exercised options import up to a date no later than 3 business days before the current date. For example, if the current date is Friday, July 19, you should only import up to Tuesday, July 16.

General Procedure:
1. Login to your online TradeStation account - Client Center - at www.tradestation.com
2. Click Accounts, Equities Accounts (Futures Accounts not supported), and then Tax Center
3. In the Download Tax Activity box select:
- your Account number
- TradeLog (.csv) as File Format
- TradeLog (.csv) as File Format
- Custom Date Range as Date Range
- From / To dates
- From / To dates
Note: TradeStation restricts the downloading of trade data to a six month period per download.
4. Click on the Download button.
5. Save the file in the following location. My Documents\tradeLog\Import
6. You should name the file something like Q1.csv or Jan-Mar.csv, then Q2.csv or Apr-Jun.csv, etc.
Note: If the csv file opens in your web browser, or opens in Microsoft Excel, rather than receiving a prompt to download and save, then there is likely a problem with your Windows associations for csv files. For instructions on how to fix this click here
7. Open TradeLog and go to the Account tab at the top and click the from File button.
8. Go to My Documents\tradeLog\Import and select the file you downloaded
9. Click the "Open" button to import the report.
10. All of your trades will be automatically imported and matched.
11. A Confirmation window will appear. Click YES to save all imported trade data.
12. Repeat the above procedure for each quarter of the year and for January of next tax year.
