TradeLog automatically defines mutual funds, ETF, and ETN securities based on ticker symbol and classifies the security type/multiplier as MUT-1 for mutual funds or ETF-1 for ETFs and ETNs. TradeLog also allows a user to define securities to be treated as Mutual Funds, ETFs, or ETNs. (Beginning in 2011 special IRS rules apply that require mutual funds, ETFs, and ETNs to be identified separately in TradeLog from other securities. See our online Tax Topic: Understanding IRS Form 8949 Categories)
To define these settings go to Options menu, select Global Options, then select the Mutual Funds - ETF/ETNs tab. A list of currently defined symbols will be listed, TradeLog has over 20,000 common mutual fund, and over 1,300 ETF/ETN symbols loaded by default.
To add a symbol: enter the ticker symbol in the New Mutual Fund Symbol or New ETF/ETN Symbol field; click on the Add button to add the new symbol.
To remove a defined symbol: select the symbol from the list then click on the Remove button.
To restore the default list of futures, click the Restore Defaults button.
When finished click OK and TradeLog will apply the changes to your current data file.
